After failing to win over Mrs Parker (Helen Norton) and the ladies of the Bloomsbury Cultural Society with stories from her case book, Eliza Scarlet (Kate Phillips) is hired by Mr Swab (Dan Starkey) from the insurance company, Sawb & Durstin, to investigate the theft of the late Charles Darwin’s sketch of The Black Witch Moth “Ascalapha odorata“, stolen from the Garret Museum of Natural Science owned by Hannah Garret (Emma Campbell-Jones).
After finding his charge, Detective Fitzroy (Evan McCabe), passed out in an opium den, William ‘The Duke’ Wellington (Stuart Martin) is also looking into the theft of the drawing. Whilst he tries to train up his newest recruit during the case, can he keep his superior off his back?
With a little help from her new friend Hattie Parker (Jessie Cave), Eliza must work out not only who stole the sketch, but also, who on earth hired her and why?
